In the near future, the film will follow Teresa (Brbara Cole), who arrives at her home in a Brazilian village that is a semi-dry Brazilian serto, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. Upon arrival, Teresa immediately notices the signs that Bacurau is in trouble. There are few basic amenities, cell phone coverage is waning, the drinking water supply is damaged, and a drinking water truck full of bullets arrives. It soon becomes apparent that the corrupt government has completely abandoned the people: Bacurau has not only been literally taken off the map, but has also been threatened by its citizens. As the leaders, the villagers should prepare for organized resistance to avoid further damage.
